There is much ado about Russia’s meddling in US 2016 elections but no space in the media has been given over to the US’s record of attempts to overthrow foreign governments or meddle in elections including those of Russia. The history of US attempts to overthrow the government of Russia goes back to 1918 when the US with other western countries intervened with military force to overthrow the Russian government.

Instances of the United States overthrowing or attempting to overthrow, a foreign government since the Second World War:

(* indicates successful ouster of a government) and this does not include the US attempts to influence the outcome of elections in such countries as Russia in 1996 when the Clinton administration intervened with financial support to ensure the election of the utterly incompetent, corrupt and drunken Boris Yeltsin.
